The B.S.B.A. is a
four-year program that results in a B.S.B.A. degree with a major in accounting.
The specific objective of this program is to provide basic conceptual and
business knowledge as a foundation for accounting career development.
Completion of this
degree currently requires 123 hours of undergraduate course work, including 30
hours of accounting. Effective in 2003, students desiring to sit for the Uniform
CPA Exam in Oklahoma must have completed 150 hours of education. Similar CPA
exam requirements now exist in most other states. As a result and in the very
near future, the School of Accounting will reduce the accounting requirements
for the bachelor's degree with a major in accounting to 24 hours. This program
change will be designed to prepare students for entry level accounting positions
in industry and government.
Students desiring
to become CPAs should arrange to take additional course work or enter the MS
program to meet the educational requirements to sit for the CPA. Students in the
B.S.B.A. program may elect to major or minor in a second area of business.
Particularly popular with students are the following double majors:
Accounting/Agricultural Economics, Accounting/Finance, and Accounting/Management
Information Systems.
