The Distance Learning MS in MIS is a 33-credit-hour program that enables graduates to understand business processes and concepts, as well as the design and maintenance of information systems.
Offering a unique blend of theoretical coursework and hands-on application with real-world projects, the program gives graduates an advantage in the competitive job market. In a business environment heavily reliant on professionals who are both business managers and technicians, graduates will have the business, technical and leadership skills to face the challenges where business disciplines meet technology.
The program prepares gradates not only to understand the concepts behind the information systems with which they work but also to develop, modify, use and protect these rapidly changing computing systems through their technical expertise.
Courses emphasize teamwork and may address digital business systems, knowledge management systems and information assurance and security. Students may focus on software design and implementation, information retrieval and analysis, or management of network and information system security to protect information systems against unauthorized intrusion.
Applicants must have a minimum GMAT score of 550 or GRE score of 1,200; at least a 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA; and at least a 3.25 undergraduate GPA in their major area. Though not required for admission, some background work in computer programming and understanding of business concepts is beneficial.
