A number of schools offer distance learning business degrees. What sets OSU apart and makes it worth choosing? Here’s our short list of 12 tremendous reasons.
Ubiquity with Uniqueness
Courses utilize student interaction even though students might be hundreds of miles apart. Designed to integrate knowledge, student interaction, and exposure to different professional disciplines, OSU business distance learning programs offer students the opportunity to get to know others earning a master’s in business administration, telecommunications management or management information systems.
Business and industry place great value on professionals’ experience and ability to function in a team environment. That’s why OSU business distance learning programs take steps to ensure students obtain the team experience they need. Don’t worry – it’s just sharing the project load or helping each other out, on a schedule determined by students, all done by distance.
Flexible Formats
Options regarding course delivery format give you the flexibility to view lectures on your timetable while you continue to work full time or take care of other responsibilities. You can have your own CD, download course materials or view them on the Internet. Such options ensure you get what you need, when you can.
Spears School of Business Accreditation
All academic programs offered by the Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business are accredited by AACSB International — the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This accreditation means all the school’s programs, including distance learning programs, meet or exceed established standards for business schools internationally. AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. More than 400 AACSB International member institutions have affirmed their commitment to educational quality through the achievement of accreditation. Of the accredited institutions, OSU is also one of about 150 that have achieved additional accreditation for their accounting programs.
Classroom Connections
Internet technology helps bring distance learning students right into the classroom, practically on campus. Faculty members have virtual office hours and provide Web boards and threaded discussion groups to facilitate class interactions. An online classroom system facilitates much of the interaction. Students also have access to the OSU library, which has thousands of journals available online.
Support Service
A service-oriented support staff serves as a central point of contact for distance learning students. Staff members handle enrollment, maintain an online homework log, facilitate the proctored examination process and answer all your administrative questions. Course schedules, video resources, a faculty directory and important dates are available online.
Practical Processes
The Spears School of Business offers degree programs tailored for working professionals — whether in business, engineering or the medical field. Our Professional MBA program is a prime example. Degree processes are simple, as well — instead of a GMAT score, those in dentistry can submit a DAT score.
Your Degree, Your Company’s Support
Our business distance learning degrees give you skills you can immediately use on the job. Therefore, it’s worthwhile for you to talk to your employer about sponsoring your participation. We’d be happy to meet with your management to describe the program and its benefits in greater detail.
Spears School of Business Experience
The OSU Spears School of Business has quality experience with distance learning. The faculty has had 15 years experience with offering distance learning courses. OSU has offered its MBA program through distance learning since 1992. The Spears School of Business Center for Executive and Professional Development emphasizes quality in serving students and meeting the need for a quality delivered degree program. Currently, more than 70 percent of students taking distance learning courses do so via the Internet, while the remainder do so via CD.
Diverse Distribution
Students in OSU business distance learning programs come from across the nation and the world. We have had students in Canada, Germany, India, Iraq, Italy, Mali, Masirah Island, The Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Romania, Sweden, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates, as well as in other places. A student base studying from such places gives students a broad exposure to cultural interaction and a global business environment.
Spears School of Business Composition
OSU is a comprehensive, land-grant university with an enrollment of more than 32,600 students on four campuses. The Spears School of Business comprises six academic departments — accounting, economics and legal studies in business, finance, management, management science and information systems, and marketing — and employs about 100 tenure and tenure-track educational professionals. More than 600 students are pursing master’s degrees in the school, which also offers doctorate degrees in business administration and economics. The business school actively incorporates technology in its curriculum and frequently seeks input form leaders in business and government to help create industry-driven degrees. The school’s faculty comprises noted scholars, authors, sought-after consultants and practitioners, and caring teachers, many whom have received outstanding teaching awards and have been recognized for innovative instruction.
Maximum Malleability
Though business distance learning degrees can be and normally are completed solely by distance, students can choose to come to an OSU campus and intermingle distance learning courses with on-campus courses. You can even celebrate your degree completion by participating in our commencement ceremonies. That all just means more options for you.
