Two ECLS students selected as 2008 Oklahoma State University Outstanding Seniors

Economics and Legal Studies in Business students Matthew Carter and Aaron Wilson received the Oklahoma State University Outstanding Senior Award in 2008. The OSU Alumni Association presents the Outstanding Senior Awards to students who have excelled in scholarship, leadership and service to campus and community and have brought distinction to Oklahoma State University.
Matthew CarterMatthew Carter graduated in May 2008 with a degree in economics and a minor in finance. He is the son of Joe and Terri Carter of Norman, Okla.

Carter has been active in the Student Government Association and served as vice-president during the 2006-2007 school year. He also was external relations executive for Business Student Council, president of the Blue Key Honor Society and served in numerous executive positions for the Sigma Nu Fraternity.  He was a member of the Order of Omega, Phi Eta Sigma and Itoa Kappa honor societies.

Carter was the 2006 Lights on Stillwater Event Coordinator. He has also volunteered for various community service projects to help the community as well as attended a mission trip to Rio Bravo, Mexico.

In 2007, Carter participated in the Engalitcheff Institute on Comparative Political and Economic Systems at Georgetown University and interned at the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Carter is a Lew Wentz Scholar, ConocoPhillips SPIRIT Scholar and an OSU Truman Scholar Finalist. He was awarded the Raymond D. Thomas Award for the Spears School of Business Top Graduating Senior.


Aaron WilsonAaron Wilson graduated in May 2008 with a degree in economics. He is the son of Dathan and Teresa Wilson of Stillwater, Okla.

Wilson was president of the Business Student Council, served on the Spears School of Business CEO Day planning committee and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. He was the Freshman Representative Council Coordinator in 2005 for the Student Government Association and has held various leadership positions in his social fraternity. 

He represented the William S. Spears School of Business on the Campus Life Advisory Council and is one of their business scholar leaders. He was involved with the Student Alumni Board, Orange Peel, and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Order of Omega honor societies.

Wilson has given back to the community by volunteering his time to help the Stillwater Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Toys for Tots programs for the past five years.  He also participated in a philanthropy trip to Throckmorton, Texas.

Wilson was selected as a Top 10 Freshman in 2005, the 2007 Homecoming King and the Top 10 Spears School of Business Outstanding Senior award.
