Southeastern Oklahoma State University recognizes Jeretta Horn Nord as distinguished alumnus
Southeastern Oklahoma State University recognized Jeretta Horn Nord, professor of management science and information systems, as a Distinguished Alumni at the Alumni Homecoming Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Horn Nord also was introduced at a special pre-game ceremony that afternoon at the Homecoming football game, which featured Southeastern and Northeastern in a 2:30 p.m. kickoff. Horn Nord was born in Sherman, Texas, and graduated from Colbert High School in 1974.
She earned her bachelor's in 1997 and master's in 1979 at Southeastern and received her doctorate in 1982 at Oklahoma State University.
At Southeastern, she was involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority and served on the Panhellenic Executive Council. She worked at Eaker Field while obtaining her private pilot's license and was named Southeastern's 1976 Homecoming Queen.
Horn Nord previously served as associate dean for undergraduate programs in the Spears School at OSU. She has also spent time as a visiting scholar at UCLA and the University of Southern Queensland in Australia.
Horn Nord recently founded the Oklahoma State University chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization, and conducts research in the areas of technology and entrepreneurship. She is currently the editor-in-chief of The Journal of Computer Information Systems.
She resides in Stillwater with her husband, Daryl, and 17-year-old son, Nicholas.
Horn Nord has presented papers at international conferences in 14 countries, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the Management International Conference in Barcelona, Spain, in November and was recently awarded a Fulbright Specialist Grant. She also is the author of numerous articles and a textbook.

Chakraborty wins faculty excellence award
The Oklahoma State University Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence has awarded Goutam Chakraborty, professor of marketing in the Spears School of Business, the Wendell H. Bailey Faculty Excellence Award. He received the award at the ITLE National Advisory Board Meeting in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 16. "I am delighted and surprised to receive this award," Chakraborty said. "I know there are many outstanding teachers at OSU and I am lucky the committee chose me. I feel very honored." White presents paper
Margaret White, associate professor of management, presented a paper at the Strategic Management Society in Cologne, Germany. The paper was titled "Reviving the 'Living Dead:' A Case Study of Venture Capitalist Turnaround" and was co-authored by Suzanne M. Behr, an OSU MBA alumna and vice president of operations for GRC. |

Stone earns best paper honors
Tom Stone, professor of management, co-wrote a paper with Jim Jawahar and that was recognized as the best paper in the Social Issues/Ethics/Diversity track of the Southern Management Association Conference. The paper was titled "Using the Theory of
Planned Behavior and Cheating Justifications to Predict Academic
Misconduct."

Nov. 6 seminar to develop innovative middle managers
The “Developing Innovative Middle Managers” seminar, taught by James Pappas, professor of management in the Spears School of Business, will teach middle managers how to influence upper–management decisions, champion ideas, implement strategies and add value. Business Career Services is sponsoring a block of tickets for the Nov. 5 Marcus Buckingham presentation to make this opportunity free to students.
