Spears School undergraduate and graduate have the opportunity to apply for a number of different scholarships. Most scholarship recipients are selected by a scholarship committee within the Spears School of Business. The same application is used to apply for most of these scholarships. SIFE to host David Thomision on Feb. 11

David Thomision, vice president of enterprise services for I2E will presen "Mastering the Sustainable Business Plan" on Feb. 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Union Little Theater.

David manages the i2E, Inc. client enterprise services function for both the Oklahoma City and Tulsa office.

Typical client enterprise services include technology, market and competitor assessments via a third party, refinement of business & financial models, review and critique of strategically focused Business Plans, guidance in the creation of investor oriented presentations, referrals to various key technology oriented service providers, and introduction to various capital sources, such as governmental funding programs, angel investor, and venture capitalist.

All the client services are designed to support the movement of innovative technologies throughout the entire commercialization process regardless of the initial starting point. Client companies span the entire range from start-ups to on-going corporate entities expanding into new markets and/or developing new incremental technologies.

David brings a breadth of business experience, ranging from start-up organizations to a Fortune 500 company, and industry knowledge.

Specifically, David has directed a corporate venture firm, managed the treasury, financial reporting, strategic planning, & information/telecom services for a large electric utility, and led the financial and/or M&A function for several high growth companies.

In addition, he has served on the Board of Directors of several high growth companies during which time one grew from approximately $35 million to over $100 million in revenues in two years. In-depth industry expertise includes energy, software, informational services, and financial.

David earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering & Management from Oklahoma State University, where he was honored as a Top Ten Senior, and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.

Jessie recently won a $500 scholarship for her second place essay in the OSCPA Statewide Ethics Case Study Competition.

OSU to host Steve Forbes in Stillwater and Tulsa

Steve Forbes, Chairman and CEO of Forbes, Inc., will speak on the OSU campus at the Wes Watkins Center on January 15 at 3:30 p.m. OSU students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.  The topic is "The Political Aftermath of the Economic Crisis:  Exploring the Challenges that Lie Ahead for a New President."  This Global Briefing is presented by the OSU School of International Studies, Spears School of Business, OSU President's Speaker Series and the Student Government Association Speakers Board.  No registration is needed, but seating is limited so you may wish to arrive early. Nizam NajdCongratulations to Dr. Nizam Najd
At the recent MSIS Winter Appreciation Dinner,  Dr. Najd received the 2008 ConocoPhillips MSIS Outstanding Faculty and Staff Service Award.  He was honored for his dedication to his students and his many contributions to the success of not just the MSIS Department but the entire Spears School of Business during his four years as a lecturer.

 

 



Congratulations to Dr. Lee Manzer
Dr. Manzer has been selected as a recipient of a Faculty/Staff Appreciation Award from the University Offices of Intercollegiate Athletics and Academic Affiaris. Manzer was publicly recognized for his support of the positive values of intercollegiate competition that contribute to student success at the OSU-Texas A&M men’s basketball game on January 10.
