Energy Finance ClassEnergy finance students attend NGEAO meeting

Students in Betty Simkins' energy finance class attended the February monthly meeting of the the Natural Gas and Energy Association of Oklahoma (NGEAO) on Feb. 19, 2009. Meg Kletke Meg Kletke to receive Faculty/Staff Appreciation Award

Dr. Kletke, professor of management science and information systems has been selected as a recipient of a Faculty/Staff Appreciation Award from the University Offices of Intercollegiate Athletics and Academic Affairs. Kletke will e publicly recognized for her support of the positive values of intercollegiate competition that contribute to student success at the OSU-Kansas women's basketball game February 25.

Betty SimkinsBetty Simkins invited to present paper

Betty Simkins, associate professor if finance, was invited to present the paper, "An Analysis of the Implied Probability of Bankruptcy for Chapter 11 Firms, Global Banks and Materials and Construction Firms Impacted by the Subprime Crisis", at Wilfrid Laurier University and Ryerson University recently in each university's research seminar series. The paper is co-authored with Antonio Camara (OSU) and Ivilina Popova (Texas State University at San Marcos).

Finance student Luke Simkins' research selected for publication

Luke Simkins, OSU finance major, had a research abstract accepted for publication in the Journal of Microbiology. The title of the article is: "Multi-drug Resistant Bacteria in a U.S. Theater Hospital in Afghanistan," which was co-authored with D.E. Sutter, et. al. Simkins plans to attend medical school after graduation. He conducted this research in the summer 2008 when stationed at Baghram Air Force Base in Afghanistan.
