Spears School helps OSU earn designation as military friendly school
Oklahoma State University recently was included in G.I. Jobs magazine’s list of “Military Friendly Schools” for 2010. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America's veterans as students.
The list was compiled through exhaustive research starting last May during which G.I. Jobs polled more than 7,000 schools nationwide. Criteria for making the Military Friendly Schools list included efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditations. Schools on the Military Friendly Schools list also offer additional benefits to student veterans or active-duty military.
For instance, OSU offers a discounted tuition rate to active-duty military members who take distance learning courses offered through the Spears School of Business. This rate is applicable for active-duty military personnel who are interested in both graduate and undergraduate distance learning courses.
In addition, the Riata Center for Entrepreneurship in the Spears School offers an entrepreneurial training program that equips disabled veterans with the skills needed to launch their own businesses.
The Veterans with Disabilities Entrepreneurship Program, known as VEP, is an entrepreneurial training program that provides the business support and resources necessary for disabled soldiers returning from Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom.
