Earn 3 credit hours while you study in China this summer

Study abroad and earn 3 hours of college credit over the summer! Learn first-hand the challenges and opportunities of doing business in China through business visits and discussions with Chinese business leaders. Enjoy corporate networking and authentic Chinese cuisine with visits to China’s premier cities. Attend the World Expo in Shanghai, visit Grand Panda Base in Chengdu, and see Olympic sites in Beijing. MBA Case TeamWinners announced in MBA Executive Interaction Case Competition

The 2009 Spears School MBA Executive Interaction Case Competition winners are Preston Pollard (left), Tommy Christian, Eric Sailers and Nick Kila.

The case competition required teams of graduate students to analyze and solve a current real-world problem for VMWare, Inc., a virtualization technology leader. Each team presented recommendations for enhancement and growth for the company.

OSU alumni serving as judges for the competition included Tiffany Sewell-Howard with the Charles Machine Works, Inc., Kathy Abrams of ExxonMobil Corp. and Robert Toler with the Federal Reserve. Winners were presented with trophies and treated to a shopping trip for business apparel.

The Center for Applied Economic Research in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University will release the 2010 Oklahoma Economic Outlook report November 17 at a conference from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Moore-Norman Career Tech South Penn Campus.

OSU economists Russell Evans and Kyle Dean will be joined by industry experts in a discussion of national economic conditions and the prospects for economic recovery in Oklahoma. Conference sessions will focus on applied economic issues important to successful planning for communities and organizations across the state, highlighted by the release of the official 2010 Oklahoma forecast.

Registration is $65 per person; for groups of eight or more people from the same company/organization, registration is $50 per person.

A comprehensive review of all portions of the test: Math (Fundamentals/Algebra/Geometry), Verbal (Reading Comp./Antonyms/Sentence Completions), and Analytical Writing

The fee for the course is $450 and includes the book Practicing to Take the GRE.

2010 Morris K. Udall Scholarship Application Deadline

The Morris K. Udall Scholarship is an award given to undergraduate students who intend to pursue careers related to the environment and to Native American and Alaska Native undergraduate students who intend to pursue careers in health care and tribal public policy. Each scholarship could cover up to a maximum of $5,000 for one year. Students must have a GPA of 3.00 and must be college sophomores or juniors who are either U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, or U.S. permanent residents. Scholarship applications are available in the dean's office, 201 Business Building.

November 9

International Travel Scholarship Application Deadline

This scholarship can be used for academic travel programs offered through the Spears School of Business Center for Executive and Professional Development in winter 2009 or spring 2010. Recipients must be currently enrolled at OSU when applying for these scholarships. Preference will be given to business students who have applied for OSU’s Travel Scholarship. Scholarship applications are available in the dean's office, 201 Business Building.

November 6

Last day to drop a class with an automatic grade of "W"
5:00 p.m.

To drop a class by November 6, bring a completed drop/add card with your advisor’s signature to either the Office of the Registrar (322 Student Union) on the Stillwater campus or Enrollment Services (1st floor Administration Building) on the Tulsa campus.

After that date, courses may only be dropped by petition with documented extenuating circumstances. Such circumstances must be reasons beyond your control, such as serious illness or an injury. James Madison Fellowship Program Application Deadline

The James Madison Fellowship program is a program intended for senior students (students must receive a bachelor’s degree by August 2010) who plan on pursuing a graduate degree to become a teacher of American history, American government or social studies at the secondary level. Applicants must be U.S. citizens with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Scholarship applications are available in the dean's office, 201 Business Building.
