Electives 8-9 hours minimum - Elective courses of your
choice
In preparation for technical positions in the telecommunications
industry (such as those that would require a computer science, electrical
engineering, or management science and information systems background), students
are encouraged to take TCOM 5012 Telecommunications Laboratory as one of their
electives. This course is also highly recommended for students who wish to
obtain hands-on experience with telecommunications hardware.
Courses other than
those with a TCOM prefix are offered by participating colleges for students in
the MSTM and other programs. These courses sometimes have additional
prerequisites that must to be satisfied before enrolling. In addition,
enrollment opportunities for MSTM students may be limited, as the courses may be
core requirements in other degree programs.
ECEN 5553, TCOM 5113 and
TCOM 5123 must be taken as early as possible as they make up the foundation of
the program's curriculum. Successful completion of these courses will give you
important skills needed to effectively manage telecommunications
systems.
OSU professors provide significant classroom resources through
the Internet. We strongly recommend students have access to a computer with a
CD-ROM drive and Internet connectivity, preferably broadband.
