PEOPLE ENTER THE MSTM PROGRAM WITH BASICALLY 4 BACKGROUNDS:
-
Management
Information Systems (Business)
-
Computer
Science
-
Electrical
Engineering
-
Other
(general business, journalism, philosophy, etc.)
Assumptions:
-
Entrants
in the "other" category should learn some "technical" skills to enhance
employability. Then, even if they do not aspire to do technical jobs
in their careers, they can still get "in the door" with a telecom
company then move up the managerial ladder.
-
All
other entrants have varying degrees of technical proficiency, but
all have marketable technical skills such that enrolling in management
electives in the MSTM Program will not impede their employability.

and management courses.
Management

Computer Science Background
Electrical Engineering Background
Other Students (Assuming a non-technical background)
-
The
goal is to provide these students with some technical background.
Pure management courses are discouraged as electives, since students
will already have six credit hours of MBA courses as part of the
core MSTM
requirements
-
MGMT 5553 Management

world of technology prior to taking an MSIS course
