Admissions
The Economics Graduate Studies Committee evaluates all applications. Admission decisions are based on prior academic performance (a 3.0 GPA is required), GRE scores and recent letters of reference. Evaluations are made after the Department has received all application materials. Students seeking admission to the Ph.D. program while in the Master's program at OSU must obtain consent of the Department's faculty. This process is initiated by a standard application to the Graduate College.

Admission to the Graduate Program in Economics is obtained by submitting a completed Application for Admission to the Graduate College at Oklahoma State University (gradcollege.okstate.edu), transcripts from all collegiate study, and a non-refundable, non-waivable application fee. Scores for the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE), and three letters of recommendation are submitted directly to the Department of Economics. The Graduate Studies Committee reviews applications when all of the above materials have been received. The normal admission requirements include an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or above.

Admission to the Doctoral program requires the completion of a master's degree in economics or one year of graduate-level course work in economics. Students with graduate work in related fields will also be considered for admission to the Doctoral program. International applicants must include evidence of a minimum score of 550 on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and provide confirmation of financial resources.

International students who are accepted into graduate programs must provide the Graduate College with a certified English translation of prior diplomas, specifically stating what degree was granted and when. The Graduate College will only accept a translation which specifically states that "a degree was granted." Students are advised to obtain these translations before leaving their home country, or as soon as possible after entering the graduate program at Oklahoma State University.
