Walt Pavlo

Walt Pavlo, noted speaker on ethics and fraud addressed a crowd of SSB graduate students Thursday night. Pavlo was a Sr. Manager with MCI found guilty of wire fraud and embezzlement ending with a federal prison sentence. While telling his story to those present, Pavlo stressed the ease at which he fell into a plot to defraud his company telling himself it was a “victimless” crime. He also shared how responsive we, as humans, are to peer pressure in that none of the people in positions beneath him questioned his behavior or interesting book keeping methods. Since his release from prison, Pavlo is more or less a pariah in the world of big business with no company willing to hire him; he has assisted the FBI with corporate investigations and spoken at numerous business school and companies on the issue of corporate fraud.
