Welcome to my homepage! I am the Williams Companies Professor of Business and Professor of Finance in the Department of Finance, Spears School of Business, at Oklahoma State University. I have a Ph.D. in Finance from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Oklahoma State University, and a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.
For the 2011-2012 academic year at OSU, I am teaching FIN 4363 Energy Finance, FIN 3113 Finance and FIN4550/BADM5200 Cowboys on Wall Street. One of my primary goals in teaching is to bridge the theory/practice gap so that students better understand how to apply what they learn in the classroom to their jobs when they graduate. I have received the Regents Distinguished Research Award (2010), the Regents Distinguished Teaching Award (2001), the Outstanding OSU MBA Faculty Award (2002) and The Merrick Foundation Teaching Award (2001), among others.
I am active in the finance profession and am co-editor of the Journal of Applied Finance since July 2007. I am also past Editor of FMA Online, past President of the Eastern Finance Association (EFA), a board member of the Financial Management Association International (FMA) and EFA. Other positions: Editorial Board of the Research in International Business and Finance, European Research Studies Journal, Journal of Financial Education, among other activities. Prior to obtaining my Ph.D., I worked in the energy industry for Williams, Inc. and Conoco, Inc. in the areas of corporate financial planning, research and development, and process engineering.
My current research interests include enterprise risk management, financial and energy risk management, international finance, and corporate governance. My book, Enterprise Risk Management: Today's Leading Research and Best Practices for Tomorrow's Executives co-edited with John Fraser, was published by Wiley in 2010.
