As you enter a graduate business program take a moment to reflect on your desired outcome. Ask yourself the following questions to begin developing an action plan based on your long term goal:
• Does your graduate program require an internship? Will you complete an internship in a program where it is not required?
• If you plan to complete an internship, would you like to stay in the U.S. or go elsewhere for the experience?
• Do you plan on seeking employment in the U.S. after graduation?
Knowing where (geographically) you want to work and live is a very important step in the career planning process. Spears School of Business Graduate Career Services offers access to data bases of U.S. employers willing to sponsor visas and assistance with developing your job search strategy, but it is your responsibility to understand the requirements of legally working in the U.S. – To learn more visit H1Base, a comprehensive website featuring the latest information on immigration law and the OSU Office Of International Students and Scholars.

"The professional development activities provided were an important aspect of my graduate program. Through exposure to different industry leaders and soft skills development in school, I can now interact more comfortably in a variety of work related situations. I’m using many of the tips I learned on how to be viewed as promotable and have received positive compliments on my application of business and dining etiquette from my mentor and supervisor. At first I didn’t get it, how these things can really impact your career, but now I’ve got it!"
