Do you need a release form?

In order to comply with Oklahoma’s statute pertaining to the right of publicity (12 O.S. § 1449), the Spears School Marketing and Communications unit has prepared this decision tree to help you determine if you need a release form to reuse, publish, perform, reproduce, adapt, distribute, or transmit a photo, video, or recording of an individual. Please be aware that there are other considerations covered by the statute (if the subject is a minor, right to privacy, etc.); this decision tree addresses only the most common situations encounted by the Spears School.
