The GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) is a requirement for admission into the OSU MBA Program for all applicants. There are no exceptions to this requirement, and applications will not be considered for admission if an official GMAT score is not submitted. The GRE cannot be substituted in place of the GMAT.

We do not have a minimum requirement for the GMAT. The GMAT is one of many factors--including recommendations, essays, undergraduate GPA, etc.-- that are considered when reviewing an application. However, GMAT scores must be competitive with the current applicant pool to be considered for admission. GMAT scores are also considered when awarding graduate assistantships.

Test scores are valid for five years from the date of the original test. If you took the GMAT more than five years ago, you must retake it and submit a new score by the application deadlines. If you take the test more than once, the highest score will be used in our evaluation of your application.

SCHOOL CODES FOR GMAT TEST-TAKERS:

Depending on how you plan to enroll, please use the following school codes for the OSU MBA Program.

Fulltime: V0W-5V-16
Parttime: V0W-5V-97
Distance Learning: V0W-5V-93

These designations are for test registration purposes only; you are in no way obligated to enroll only as a parttime student if you decide you would rather attend fulltime. All test scores registered to the codes listed above will be sent to the MBA Program office, so we will have access to them no matter how many hours you plan to enroll.

The above codes are valid as of January 1, 2006. If you took the GMAT in December, 2005 using the old institution code (6546), your test scores will still arrive at OSU. Pearson VUE is now developing and administering the GMAT test, and uses a different coding system than ETS used.

Registration for the GMAT test can only be done through PearsonVue at www.mba.com, or by calling 1-800-717-4628. Testing sites only administer the test; they do not register applicants.

There are many testing locations that offer the GMAT and, depending on where you live, you should be able to find a site near you.

GMAT Test Score Availability:

GMAT test scores become available to the MBA Program usually within 5-6 days after the test date, and are accessed electronically by our office. The information on the ETS website indicates 20 days; this is for schools that receive hardcopy scores via postal mail. OSU obtains the scores in a much shorter time period.
