OSU To Host Big 12 MBA Case Competition
Teams representing nearly every school in the Big 12 Conference will compete March 2-3 in the sixth annual Big 12 MBA Case Competition on the campus of Oklahoma State University.
OSU’s Spears School of Business is hosting the Big 12 MBA Case Competition for the first time. The event will be held at the Wes Watkins Center on the Stillwater campus.
“Hosting the Big 12 MBA Case Competition at the Spears School of Business is an honor,” said Dean Larry Crosby. “We are expecting a great weekend of camaraderie with MBA students from other Big 12 universities, but we also know that it will be a competitive environment in which each team attempts to take home the first-place prize. The competition will be a learning experience that benefits each student as they prepare for their futures.”
OSU Finance Students Attend NGEAO Luncheon Featuring Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb
Spears School of Business Finance students recently attended the Natural Gas and Energy Association of Oklahoma (NGEAO) luncheon which featured keynote speaker State of Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb.
The topic of the discussion was “Oklahoma Energy is Good for Business.”

Congress to Campus
The Spears School of Business is hosting Congress to Campus on Monday, April 2, with former Congressman Larry LaRocco (Idaho) and former Congresswoman Sue Kelly (New York) as the guest speakers. The topic will be “International Trade: Opportunity or Destruction.” The forum will be held the Wes Watkins Center Auditorium at 2:30 p.m. Students, faculty and staff are welcomed to attend this free event. CEO Day
The 2012 CEO Day is Tuesday, April 3, from 3:30-5:00 p.m. in the ConocoPhillips Alumni Center, Click Hall. CEO Day was designed to bring successful business people to campus so students are given the opportunities to:
- Discover challenges and issues CEOs face,
- Understand how CEOs charter their career paths,
- Discover characteristics they seek in managers,
- Interact with successful CEOs,
- Learn about CEO’s decision processes and leadership styles.
This year’s guest CEOs include Al Litchenburg, Vice Chairman, American Fidelity Corporation, and Don Greiner, CEO of Grace Living Centers. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend.

The Spears School of Business has nearly 4,500 students, so students may sometimes feel like they’re getting lost in the crowd. We’re doing what we can to help people get to know our students, faculty and staff. “Getting to Know …” can be found on the Spears School website (spears.okstate.edu), and a new student, faculty or staff member will be featured each week.

OSU Houston Management Development Consortium--Developing Your Emotional Intelligence Presenter: Debra L. Nelson, Ph.D. Nearly three hundred different company sponsored studies have demonstrated that the secret to excellent performance at work is emotional intelligence (EI). In this session, participants will learn a validated framework for emotional intelligence, and will assess their own level of EI using the Emotional Competence Inventory, a 360-degree evaluation. Through a series of exercises, participants will build a personal vision and make a plan to increase their El in order to achieve that vision and move toward excellent performance.
October 2-4, 2013 The OSU Energy Midstream and Marketing program will focus on 1) natural gas 2) crude oil and 3) NGL midstream and other topics as related to business and is targeted to those new in the industry or midstream and marketing area. The program will address what it takes to get oil and gas to market, potential obstacles, supply, and other market factors. Instructors for this session will feature Oklahoma State University faculty as well as speakers from the energy industry.

The Ph.D. in Business for Executives Program is offered in an executive format requiring four days a month for 10 months a year in residencies. Classes are also supplemented by online interaction. Core curriculum for the program consists of eight courses. These courses cover macro and micro organizational issues, creativity, innovation, and a broad and comprehensive spectrum of research methods - qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods. In addition, several concentration courses and applied research practicum are offered.
