The Beta Alpha Psi chapter at Oklahoma State University recently provided gifts to 75 children and families in the Stillwater area.

The Beta Alpha Psi chapter at Oklahoma State University provided gifts this month for 75 children in the Stillwater area who may not have otherwise been able to celebrate the holidays.

Receiving the gifts through the Angel Tree program were children from the OSU Family Resource Center and several other families in the Stillwater area. The gifts were provided by students and faculty in OSU’s Spears School of Business, and with donated funds from Beta Alpha Psi’s Turning Tables events this fall.

The OSU chapter was able to raise the funds with the assistance of several donors, including BKD, Cole & Reed (now McGladrey), Deloitte, Eide Bailly, ExxonMobil, EY, Grant Thornton, Halliburton, HoganTaylor, Koch, KMPG, Love’s, Phillips 66, PwC, and Stinnett & Associates.

“Beta Alpha Psi is not just an organization that helps students find jobs after they graduate, it is also meant to be a service organization and an organization that helps students learn to serve,” said Monika Turek, instructor in OSU’s School of Accounting and advisor for the BAP Chi chapter.

“I think our partnership with the Family Resource Center is important because it helps the students understand what is really important, which is learning to help those around you and to forget about yourself for a brief moment,” Turek said.

In 2013, the OSU Beta Alpha Psi chapter raised more than $4,000 to help the Family Resource Center build a new playground.

“I am very proud of Ms. Turek and our BAP students for organizing this toy drive,” said Ken Eastman, dean of the Spears School of Business. “Many children in the Stillwater area will have a much happier holiday thanks to their efforts. We also appreciate all of the sponsors, staff, and faculty who provided funds for these gifts.”
