Professional Development Seminars offered to Oklahoma City business professionals

Professional Development Seminars in OKCThe Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University is excited to offer a series of professional development seminars in Oklahoma City.

The Professional Development Seminars are designed to help participants strengthen their professional profiles while also developing new skills. Participants will receive up-to-date and relevant information that can be used in the workplace every day.

Speakers for this series are Kim McCrackin, coordinator of the Learning Services Center and instructor of business communications at OSU-Tulsa; Matt Bowler, associate professor with the Department of Management; Raj Basu, vice president of academic affairs at OSU-Tulsa and associate professor of management, and Mac McCrory, adjunct instructor in the Department of Management.

Programs will be held at the OSU-OKC campus. The schedule and seminar topics are as follows:

February 10 / 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Professional Business Email Writing and Etiquette with Kim McCrackin: This seminar will teach participants how to write emails that maximize effectiveness and efficiency.

February 10 / 1-3 p.m. Editing and Proofreading with Kim McCrackin: This seminar will teach participants the importance of correctness and professionalism in business writing and strategies for improved business communications.

March 24 / 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Supervisory Program Part I: Changing Roles: Understanding Power and Leadership with Matt Bowler: This seminar will help new managers to better understand and develop sources of power and explore individual leadership styles while developing effective actions for influencing others.

April 20, / 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Supervisory Program Part II: Mentoring, Enhancing Employee Performance and Coaching with Raj Basu: Participants will experience different techniques to motivate employees while understanding the importance of mentoring in the workplace.

May 25 / 9 a.m.-noon Time Management with Mac McCrory: This seminar focuses on proper planning, decision-making and goal setting to prioritize your life goals and learning to attain short-term objectives to achieve these goals.

May 25 / 1-4 p.m. Decision Making with Mac McCrory: This presentation on decision making will evaluate the critical factors in our decision making processes, both as individuals and as a team, as well as examine how communication effects this process, both negatively and positively.

Registration for each program is $350 per person.
