STILLWATER, Okla. - Business and government professionals are encouraged to attend the Economic Outlook Conference on December 3, 2008, at the DoubleTree Hotel at Warren Place in Tulsa, Okla. where Mark Snead, director of the Center for Applied Economic Research, in the Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business, will speak on the current and future economic state of Oklahoma.
“Mark Snead has been doing Oklahoma forecasts for some time,” said Sara Freedman, Spears School dean. “Hearing his insights about our economy and the implications of the current economic trends at the national and international level will be very useful.”
Mark Snead is the director for the Center for Applied Economic Research located in the Spears School. He is known for his expertise in regional economic modeling, economic forecasting, local area economic development and the Oklahoma economy. “Understanding how Oklahoma will react to the turbulent economic conditions at the national level will be a challenge in 2009,” Mark Snead said. “We have been sheltered to a large degree by the energy sector and a strong housing market the past two years, but the recent fall in energy prices and the liquidity crunch present much different conditions to the state economy next year.”
The Economic Outlook Conference is presented by the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the OSU Center for Executive and Professional Development. The keynote speaker is Dr. Anthony Chan who is the Managing Director and Chief Economist for JPMorgan Private Client Services. After Chan and Snead speak there will be a panel discussion on various topics such as health care, aerospace, energy and the workforce.
“This conference will be beneficial to all who attend and we look forward every year to presenting this information in cooperation with the Tulsa Metro Chamber,” Karen Ward, CEPD Assistant Director, said. “The insight that Anthony Chan and Dr. Mark Snead will share will help us understand the future financial situation and the economy.”
