- Three teams of OSU Masters students took the top three spots at a national “data mining” shootout competition organized
by SAS (a leading provider of data mining software) and Inductis (a
global consulting firm specializing in analytics and data mining).
The students, mostly from MSIS master's programs, built predictive
models that accurately predicted which customers were most likely to
buy for a mail-order catalogue company. The OSU team models produced
more accurate results than those submitted by the other 30 teams from
other U.S. universities.
One member from each OSU team won an all expenses-paid trip to M2007 in Las Vegas, where they presented their findings.
- 1st Place team: Rohit Jaiswal, Vinay Amarnath Kanojia, Kunal C. Parekh, Ankit Saklecha.
- 2nd place team: Pavankumar Abbaraju, Rahul Laxman Chavan, Hrishikesh Joshi, Parag Avinash Kode and Shruti Palasamudram Ramesh.
- 3rd place team: Mohammed Dwikat, Mallikarjuna Chaitanya Jayanty, Priya Jhanji, Deivanavagam Kannabiran, Fery Suryadi. ||
