Accounting Communication Center

Communication skills encompass more than writing and presenting including active listening, collaboration, emotional intelligence, financial storytelling, leadership, creative problem-solving, engaging your audience and more.

ACE

The School of Accounting Collaborative for Excellence (ACE) is designed to help all Spears students in their accounting courses succeed by providing them with peer tutoring, mentoring, and career advice.

Student organizations

The School of Accounting sponsors two student organizations. These organizations provide students with opportunities to network with the business community, develop professional leadership skills, and engage with other students.

    Research

    Recent faculty publications have covered many relevant topics including whether severance pay affects the timeliness of bad news disclosures by companies, auditor responses to FCPA risk, the Asian financial crisis, the accuracy of going concern opinions, experiential education in accounting, and internal auditors’ internal control evaluations.

    The School of Accounting faculty serves businesses, governments and non-profit organizations through education and outreach, including the Annual Oil and Gas Accounting Conference, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Conference and the Ph.D. Alumni Research Conference (PARC).
