Oil and Gas Accounting Conference scheduled for Nov. 14 in Tulsa

School of Accounting logoThe Spears School of Business School of Accounting at Oklahoma State University will host the 9th annual Oil and Gas Accounting Conference on Nov. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa, Okla. The sponsors of the conference are Opportune (Platinum sponsor) and Gold sponsors BKD CPAs and Advisors, Deloitte, and Wilsey Meyer Eatmon Tate PLLC. The conference is also offered in cooperation with the Council of Petroleum Accountants Societies (COPAS).

This conference brings together nationally recognized experts from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the American Petroleum Institute (API), corporate finance executives, and professional accountants to discuss current issues related to oil and gas accounting.

Charlotte Wright, Lanny G. Chasteen Chair and Professor in the School of Accounting, and Robert Cornell, head of the School of Accounting and Anadarko Petroleum Chair, are coordinating the conference.

Lynn Loden, managing director of transaction services and tax at Opportune LLP in Houston, will present “Upstream Acquisition Trends and SEC Tax Update.” and Daniel Olds, senior vice president of Ryder Scott, in Houston, will address “SEC vs. PRMS Reserves.” A discussion on tax and budget issues being shaped in Washington, D.C., will be led by Stephen Comstock, manager of tax and accounting policy at API in Washington, D.C., and “Current Issues and Judgments in Oil and Gas Accounting and Reporting” will be presented by Jonathan Duersch, associate chief accountant in the office of the chief accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.

"The Oil and Gas Accounting Conference offers the opportunity for oil and gas accounting and finance professionals to get up-to-date information regarding significant developments in the oil and gas industry from some of the leading experts in the field," said Wright.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from 1 to 5 p.m. Conference participants can earn four hours of CPE credit.
