Two new professors are joining the Department of Management Science and Information
Systems in the Spears School of Business for the 2014-15 school year. Joining the
Spears School faculty are Bryan Hammer and Zach Steelman.
“We are excited to have Bryan and Zach join our internationally recognized faculty
and provide instruction for our leading edge programs in Management Information Systems,”
said Rick Wilson, head of the Department of MSIS. “While both earned their doctoral
degrees from University of Arkansas, each bring a unique background to the Spears
School of Business that perfectly complements our existing faculty excellence in the
classroom, and will provide even more high-powered and relevant research in the MIS
area.”
Bryan Hammer
Hammer, who will be an assistant professor in Oklahoma State University’s MSIS department,
has held for the past year the position of visiting assistant professor, contributing
toward the analytics and doctoral programs in the Spears School.
He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University’s Marriott
School of Business and received his doctoral degree from the University of Arkansas’
Sam M. Walton College of Business. Hammer’s research interests include privacy in
social media, the negative consequences of information technology, and technology’s
impact on performance of health care organizations.
Hammer enjoys dirt biking, woodworking and gardening. He and his wife have four children,
ages 9, 8, 5 and 3.
Zach Steelman
Steelman joins the Spears School faculty after completing work on his doctoral degree
in management information systems at the University of Arkansas. His academic interests
include the management and consequences of information technology for both individuals
and organizations. He also has various on-going projects regarding the negative consequences
of information technology.
A native of Heavener, Okla., he earned an associate’s degree at Carl Albert State
College in Poteau, Okla., a bachelor’s degree at Northeastern State University in
Tahlequah, Okla., and a master’s degree at the University of Arkansas.
Steelman enjoys participating in various motorsports, automotive restorations, spending
time with his family, and experimenting with novel technologies. He is married to
Jessica.
