Women’s Business Leadership Conference scheduled for March 4 in downtown Tulsa

Women's Business Leadership ConferenceThe 24th Annual Women’s Business Leadership Conference will be March 4 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Tulsa. The conference is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and is presented by the Oklahoma International Women’s Forum (OIWF), the International Women’s Forum Leadership Foundation, and the Center for Executive and Professional Development in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Lou C. Kerr, chair of the Oklahoma International Women’s Forum and president and chair of The Kerr Foundation, Inc., was key to securing the speakers for the conference. “It is my hope our OSU/OIWF Conferences and our agenda be packed full of substance and opportunity,” Kerr said, “and that each participant is introduced to vibrant examples of cutting edge information that is worthy of their time and attention. “OIWF hopes the students, civic leaders and major companies attending see the OIWF/OSU faculty and staff as critical mentors to these emerging leaders,” she said. “It is also my hope that those attending will spend time with students and see yourselves as mentors, that by attending the program you receive a greater awareness of the economics of today and help in the reshaping of ideas, that each person feels encouraged to contribute their expertise, advice and observations, and that you leave our seminar enriched by the experience.” This conference brings in a variety of expert women leaders from across the United States who share their experiences in the business world. Participants will learn more about moving toward their career goals, enhancing their leadership skills, and developing themselves and others. Featured speakers are Nancye Green, chief design officer of The Medicines Company in New York City. Green will share her thoughts on the myth of having it all (at the same time) and the importance of charting your own course and designing the life you want to live in “Designing a Business/Designing a Life.” Nancy May, president and CEO of The BoardBench Companies, LLC, in Norwalk, Conn., will be speaking on “The Strategic Networker: Focus Your Attention and Tactics to Improve Your Outcomes,” where participants will meet and learn how to leverage at least one valuable new connection by the end of the session. Also, Sudha Pennathur, president and CEO of House of Pennathur in Tiburon, Calif., will be sharing how we act in a changing world of social, cultural, and environmental values in “Working with a Purpose: Intent and Intention.” Toni Portmann, a board of director for Support.com, SPRT, in Dallas, will present an engaging and participative perspective on five keys to success in business (and in life) in “Keys to Success in Business (and Life!)…A C.O.M.B.O”. Shannon Mabrey Rotenburg, executive director of j.k. livin Foundation, will discuss the benefits in participating in a philanthropy and how to use your connections and resources to help the world around you with “The Power of Philanthropy.” Many companies are supportive of the Women’s Business Leadership Conference.
