MS in Management Information Systems ranked 14th best online program in nation

Best Online Master's in IT Management badgeThe online master’s degree in Management Information Systems at Oklahoma State University is one of the best in the nation in rankings recently published by the website Top Management Degrees.

The OSU online master’s in MIS is ranked No. 14 in the Top 50 Online Masters Degrees in Information Technology Management 2015.

It is the second national award for OSU’s MIS program in recent months. In January, the program was No. 29 in the North American rankings for Information Systems programs in 2014-15 in the Eduniversal Best Masters Rankings (http://www.best-masters.com/ranking-master-information-systems-management-in-north-america.html). OSU’s program was No. 24 among universities in the United States, and it was the only Big 12 school to make the list.

“I attribute our strong MS in MIS program and its success to the faculty's dedication to deliver a high-quality, relevant curriculum whether in traditional or on-line classrooms,” said Rick L. Wilson, head of the Department of Management Science and Information Systems. “Our department has long been a national leader in providing highly sought after STEM graduates, and this continued recognition of our graduate programs illustrates that the MSIS Department is committed to being innovative educators.”

In its evaluation of the OSU online master’s degree in MIS, the website wrote: For the IT masters students with extended personal and professional time obligations, OSU’s distinguished Spears School of Business offers a Master of Science in Management Information Systems. This 33-credit hour online MIS program offers students theoretical coursework, hands-on application, and real-world projects focused on business, technical, and leadership skills. Students can expect to finish the program with an understanding of information systems, as well as the ability to use and protect these systems within organizations. Courses within this program include: Advanced Data Base Management, Advanced Systems Analysis & Design, Enterprise Resource Planning, Information Systems Project Management, Business Intel, Tools & Technology, and Business Finance.

The data for the Top Management Degrees was derived from the most recently and publicly available sources, including The Princeton ReviewUS News and World ReportNational Center for Education and Statistics, and PayScale’s Graduate School Salary Report.

This ranking combines the results of two of the most influential higher education rankings in order to give a more well-rounded ranking of the programs available. This data was additionally calculated with each school’s average graduate school tuition and average early career salary to factor in an ROI on the master’s program.
