Spears logoThe Oklahoma State University Spears School of Business and the Center for Executive and Professional Development are presenting a pair of seminars that will equip employees and managers on the prevention of computer security threats.

Hacking Back I: Data Security for Employees and Hacking Back II: Data Management for Managers will be held at OSU-OKC in Oklahoma City on March 25 as part of the Management and Professional Development Seminars series presented by the Center for Executive and Professional Development in the Spears School. Hacking Back I will equip employees with specific actions to prevent computer security threats. Hacking Back II will teach managers how to be aware of and evaluate computer security threats.

“The focus of these seminars is on story-telling and creating an awareness of what really is going on with hacking and computer security. Functional, practical and entertaining with a technology made easy approach makes for an enjoyable time,” said Jim Burkman, the instructor for both Hacking Back I and Hacking Back II.

Burkman, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Management Science and Information Systems at OSU, will give participants easy-to-use tools and practices to keep themselves and their companies safe from hackers and other data security threats in Hacking Back I: Data Security for Employees. It will be from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In Hacking Back II: Data Management for Managers participants will learn the language of security professionals, specific threat categories, and effective defense strategies. This seminar is offered from 1-4 p.m.

The fee for Hacking Back I and Hacking Back II is $199 per session, or $175 if two or more employees from the same company enroll in a Hacking Back seminar. Participants earn 0.3 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon completion of each seminar.
