OSU Cyber Security Conference on April 5 will include experts from around the world

Cyber security is one of the hot topics of 2016, and Oklahoma State University’s inaugural Cyber Security Conference will include some of the world’s foremost experts on April 5 in the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

The conference, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., will bring national and international experts to the state. In addition, participants have the option of joining the Executive Management Briefing featuring Gen. Keith Alexander from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Civic Center.

Cyber Security Conference speakers and topics include:

“A Role for Corporate America in Today’s Cyberwar” by Matthew Harper, director of Information Security for Devon Energy Corporation;
“Get Ahead of Cyber Crime” by Terry Jost, partner/principal in the Advisory Risk Department of EY, Dallas;
“Security and Privacy Implications of Smart Objects on Infrastructure and Developing a Security Mindset,” by Monique Morrow, chief technology officer, Cisco Systems, Zurich, Switzerland;
“Financial Presentation on Cyber Security,” by Kent Nabors, chief information systems officer, MidFirst Bank, Oklahoma City;
“Rethinking the Challenge of Security” by Sabine Schilg, vice president, Security Division for IBM, Armonk, N.Y.;
“Understanding and Applying Threat Intelligence” by Ken Westin, security market specialist at Splunk, Portland, Ore.;

Panels comprised of speakers will answer questions from participants during the day.

Gen. Alexander will be speaking on “A Road Map to Freedom: The Strategy of Effective Cyber Security.” He is the former commander for the U.S. Cyber Command (2010 to 2014), former director of the National Security Agency and ex-chief of the Central Security Service (2005 to 2014). A four-star U.S. Army general and the highest ranked military official of U.S. Cyber Command, the National Security Agency and the Central Security Service, he has played a pivotal role in securing the safety of American citizens at home and abroad for the past decade.
