The Marketing and Communications office brought home four awards from the 2016 OCPRA Conference.

The Marketing and Communications office in Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business won four awards at the annual Oklahoma College Public Relations Association conference, hosted on July 10-12 at the Artesian Hotel in Sulphur, Oklahoma.

The seven-member team placed second in the Multimedia division with its “Engage@Spears” digital magazine, published in December 2015. The magazine reviewed the accomplishments and stories of the Spears School from the previous year and highlighted faculty and staff members that contributed to the success of the school.

Communication specialist Ariel West placed third in the News Writing category with “Are we addicted to our mobile phones?” The article delved into research by Management Science and Information Systems assistant professor Bryan Hammer, which aims to uncover the truth about addiction to mobile devices.

The team also received two honorable mention awards: Multimedia Specialist Jordan Pfeiffer accepted the award for “Step by Step with Spears” in the Video Featurette category, and the team as a whole accepted the award for its Spears Leave Your Mark beam signing event in the Events division.

“I am especially proud of the Marketing and Communications group this year,” said Terry Tush, director of marketing and communications for the Spears School. “Their dedication to excellence continues to go beyond my expectations as they promote the accomplishments of faculty, students and staff. We are fortunate to have such dedicated professionals telling our many success stories.”

The annual OCPRA competition featured nearly 500 entries from public and private higher education institutions across Oklahoma.
