OSU Entrepreneurship hosts competition as first major event of new accelerateOSU

Thursday, February 23, 2017

Oklahoma State University’s School of Entrepreneurship is hosting a campus-wide Business Plan Competition open to OSU students of all majors.

Participants across campus will complete an intent to compete form by March 3 and submit a 10-page business plan by March 22. The top eight finalists will be announced April 3 and will compete in a live 10-minute business plan presentation April 28 at the Backstage, located at 7th and Main streets in Stillwater.

“The goal of the competition is to showcase OSU’s innovative technology and resources while highlighting the collaboration and innovation of the student teams,” said Haley Kurtz, event coordinator for the School of Entrepreneurship’s accelerateOSU branch. “We wanted to host a competition for all OSU students from Tulsa, Stillwater and Oklahoma City, and show that entrepreneurial ideas help promote economic development.”

accelerateOSU is the latest development for the School for Entrepreneurship, replacing the Student Startup Central. The division, located at 7th and Main streets in downtown Stillwater, is an entrepreneurial incubator program that houses student startup ventures and aims to leverage university and City of Stillwater resources to help bring together business ideas.

“accelerateOSU and the Institute for New Venture Creation is designed to help support and create student business ventures at OSU,” said Richard Gajan, Thoma Family clinical assistant professor and director of accelerateOSU. “Our goal is to see student ideas grow into successful Oklahoma businesses, and we are here to aid in every part of that process.”
