Type It Up, founded by OSU marketing major Ashier Majok, is a typing company that takes handwritten documents and copies them into a digital format. Backed by research studies, Majok believes that the art of handwriting increases one’s performance in the classroom, improves memory and boosts thinking skills. Type It Up allows students to enjoy handwriting while the company converts the documents into digital copies. For every subscription received, Type It Up sends a pencil and a notebook to a child in need.
“Notes, essays, résumés, we type it all,” Majok said. “Through our app, anyone can take a picture of their handwritten documents and send it to us. We then send back a typed version to their email. Two Oklahoma State University entrepreneurship incubator teams comprised of students from the Spears School of Business, the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, and the College of Arts and Sciences were among the top winners this past weekend in the finals of the Baylor Business New Venture Competition.
Out of 166 teams, the two OSU teams were selected to compete in the finals as part of the Top 12. OSU MBA student Haley Kurtz and mechanical engineering technology student Kevin Keith with MITO Material Solutions placed second in the competition, bringing home $35,000 plus an additional $500 for placing third in the live pitch portion of the competition. MITO sells adhesive epoxy additives which allow manufacturers to double the durability or significantly decreases the weight of composite materials utilized in the aerospace, recreation, and automotive industries.
“Winning second place at Baylor is a huge accomplishment for MITO Material Solutions,” Kurtz said. “Compared to previous competitions we have been a part of, the competition and schedule at Baylor was fierce. Thankfully, Baylor University offered many coaching and feedback sessions from experienced advisors and judges, which allowed us to really improve our presentation for the semi and final rounds.

Participants across campus will complete an intent to compete form by March 3 and submit a 10-page business plan by March 22. The top eight finalists will be announced April 3 and will compete in a live 10-minute business plan presentation April 28 at the Backstage, located at 7th and Main streets in Stillwater.

Oklahoma State University’s School of Entrepreneurship has been selected as the top program in the nation offering an online Master’s in Entrepreneurship (MSE).
This isn’t the first time OSU’s School of Entrepreneurship has received nationwide recognition. The program started in 2008 and quickly gained recognition a short four years later, debuting in the Princeton Review as the No. 23 program in the Top 25 Graduate School of Entrepreneurship Studies.
SuccessfulStudent.org’s ranking of the of the 15 Best Online Entrepreneurship Colleges in the United States placed OSU as No. 1 on the list. The competition is a two-day, dual-round business plan and speed pitch competition that promotes entrepreneurship and small business development. First place will win $60,000 in cash plus multiple free resources such as consulting and data room access provided by sponsors.
